Thermal and Layer Thickness Dependence of Defect and Band Edge Transmissions in 1D PCs Based on ZnS/CaF₂ Multilayers

Abstract Alternating layers of different materials with sub wavelength thickness in one dimension are used for controlling the propagation electromagnetic waves owing to their ability selectively transfer and confine photons specific wavelengths, called photonic band gap (PBG). Temperature independent large PBG visible range is highly desired many applications we have theoretically investigated thermal layer dependence on proposed a novel strategy choose based coefficients expansion thermo optic effect. The can be eliminated by making spectral shift due effect equal opposite that We chosen ZnS/CaF2 multilayers design 1D crystal (PC) our calculations shown fluctuations could significantly reduced negative coefficient these compensated positive coefficient. PC shows temperature dependent ∼14 pm/oC range.
